Beginning Handbuilding with Xochitl Harbison

Join Xochitl Harbison in the HCOA studio for a 4 day ceramic hand building class. Participants will be introduced to the basics of hand building, ceramic forms, decoration styles, and glazing. Students will have the opportunity to create a number of objects that explore both functional and sculptural processes.

Learning Goals:

pinch pots, coil building, slab building, additive and reduction textures, sculpting, slump and hump molds, lidded forms, trapping air, wedging, sgraffito, mishima, glazing and more

No previous experience needed

• Wednesday, February 12th from 5:30-8:30 pm
• Sunday, February 16th from 4-7 pm
• Monday, February 17th from 5:30-8:30 pm
• Sunday, February 23rd from 4-7pm (Glaze Day)

$130 Grades 7-12/ $140 HCOA Members/ $150 General
