Paintings by Austin Parkhill
“The past couple of years of my process have been defined by pull. I’ve made work to satisfy subtle tugs at my temples. Not some scripted concept to start with. Not cohesion or expectation or target. Some ethereal, shifting gravity directs each new work. But they are me, they are certainly mine.”

Artist Bio:

Austin Parkhill is an artist living in Homer, Alaska. He has shown his paintings at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C., Jonathan LeVine Projects (NYC), the Anchorage Museum, and the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, among others.

The artist has a local studio practice that pairs with exhibitions and public art. An outdoor-biased life continually influences his practice. Psyche and geography, climate and interconnectivity all influence his work.

Parkhill is originally from the Front Range of Colorado, where he grew up playing hockey, painting, and making oven-baked clay animals. Prior to his time in Homer, he lived in Denver, Boston, and Utqiagvik (Barrow) for extended periods.
