You’re the Artisan!

Join artist Linda Vizenor for this one day 5×7 stained glass workshop. Participants will design and create their own stained glass artwork within the dimensions of 5×7. Attendees of this workshop will need to read and follow the instructions below in order to participate in the class.

10:30AM-6PM in the HCOA Studio

All supplies included. 

Please wear close-toed shoes and bring eye protection if you have it.

This is a long day of creating, don’t forget to bring a snack and water.

Open to ages 16+

Instructions for making your design and template:  

1. When you sign up for your class pick up your graph paper, carbon paper and pattern material. Create a design 5”x7” on graph paper using no more than 20 pieces of glass.
2. You will then email your design to Linda at delvizenor@acsalaska.net by  October 4 for suggestions ideas make your pattern glass compatible . After your design has been approved, you will make a carbon copy of your design onto the pattern paper (tan colored paper).   Number each pattern piece as you make copies so your template number will match the number on your graph paper design.
3. Cut ONLY the outside perimeter of the pattern with an exacto knife or scissors.  To cut the pattern pieces, you will need to use Foil Pattern Sheers not scissors!  Foil pattern shears are available at the HCOA office for your use. Only cut the tan paper pieces, leave your graph paper template whole.   The small bit of paper these shears cut out between the pattern pieces is the amount of space you will need for your glass to fit together with copper foil on the edges.
4. Come to class with your original pattern on graph paper (do not cut the graph paper design) numbered templates (pattern pieces) cut by using pattern shears obtained from HCOA
5. You will select glass colors at the beginning of the class. If you have glass you want to use please feel free to bring it.  HCOA will have glass available for your project.
6. Cutting, grinding, foiling and soldering will all be done during class time.
7. I will provide lead channel for framing and hinging rings.

The panel will meet the size required to be submitted into the HCOA 5×7 show in November.  Show off your work – we highly recommend you participate in this event.
