ArtQuest


Instructor Marie Alexson will be offering art classes for children in grades K-2 and 3-6, in four six-week sessions starting September 14. Marie is a certified K-8 art teacher with a Highly Qualified Art License in the state of Alaska.

The students will explore various mediums of art: clay, pastels and watercolor. They will explore art history and meets its masters, and craft works of art out of recycled materials and items from the natural world while learning and incorporating elements of design principles into their masterpieces. Interpersonal awareness, kinesthetic brain/body/eye connections and art journaling will be fostered and emphasized during their time in class.


Class Fee for a six-class series $60.00. Register for these classes by calling HCOA or stopping by soon.



Class Schedule:
     Grades k-2 Tuesdays 1:30 - 2:30 or 3:30 - 4:30
     Grades 3-6 Thursdays 1:30 - 2:30 or 3:30 - 4:30

These classes are supported in part by the Cultural Collaborations Project grant, created and funded by the Rasmuson Foundation and administered under contract by the Alaska State Council on the Arts. Scholarships will be available pending additional sponsorships.
